Childhood

Keyla Jones grew up in Arizona, where she was homeschooled alongside her three brothers. While her brothers spent their time taking apart anything they could get their hands on, Keyla spent her time dreaming up new stories, writing songs, and drawing.

During her time in sunny Arizona, her mother/teacher noticed that she was really struggling with reading and quickly found out she was dyslexic.

Instead of backing down, her mother made Keyla work 10x harder to overcome dyslexia, and also encourged her to work on the things she enjoyed, writing.

After a lot of hard work and tears, Keyla graduated college with a 3.9 GPA, wrote and directed an award-winning play, and has completed two 79,000 word novels, with many more in-progress.

Her stories are inspired by her vivid dreams and her own experiences. She strives to be a rolemodel for young writers struggling with dyslexia.

Current Days

Keyla resides in a small town in South Carolina. She spents her days writing up new stories that push your imagination boundries.

When she’s isn’t writing, you may find Keyla singing a song, painting dinosaurs in space, or daydreaming about her next novel idea.

frequently asked questions

I started writing when I was six years old. The first book I wrote was about a dream I had involving pirates, a castle, and a birthmark. Unfortunately, I was so dyslexic and a horrible speller at the time, that I can't understand a single word, I was trying to say. That means I have been writing for over 20 years.

Most of my inpiration for novels comes from my very vivid dreams, I develop these by adding on my own life experiences and the stories of those around me.

I was homeschooled until the age of 13, when I began attending my local community college and graduated with an Associates Degree and a 3.9 GPA.

I live in a small town in South Carolina.

Too many to count! Currently, I am focusing my efforts on 'Forever, Lyn' (Young Adult Historical Romance), 'Rain' (Horror), and 'Small Town Magic' (Young Adult Fantasy)

I did! Growing up in a family of programmers, you learn a thing or two about coding. I made this website, not only for my novels, but also as a part of my programming portfolio!
